QA Inspector / Technical Assistant – Passive Fire Protection
Hutton, Essex (CM13) | £40,000 – £50,000 DOE | Permanent – 40 hrs/week
Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive QA Inspector / Technical Assistant to conduct quality checks, assess installations and installer competency, sign off improvements, and provide practical technical guidance across our compliance programme.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out QA inspections of fire compartmentation / firestopping installations and sign off remedial works
- Support FIRAS audits and help maintain ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 compliance
- Assess installer competency, manage improvement plans and deliver on-site technical briefings / toolbox talks
- Complete pre-commencement site audits and advise on suitable products and solutions
- Provide clear technical guidance to our operations team and contribute to project-specific passive fire designs
- Prepare accurate O&M manuals for clients on project completion
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in QA / compliance, ideally within firestopping, passive fire, fit-out or MEPH
- Good working knowledge of fire compartmentation, manufacturer details and industry standards
- Confident communicator – comfortable on site with installers and in front of clients
- Strong attention to detail, organised, and proactive
- A-Level / Level 3 qualification or equivalent trade background
Desirable (not essential)
- IFE Level 2, CSCS card, or experience in passive fire protection / design management
- Experience with Onetrace, Bolster, Aconex, Viewpoint
- Exposure to BIM tools: Dalux, Navisworks, Revizto, Autodesk Forma

Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor – Passive Fire Protection
£36,000 – £50,000 DOE | Full-Time | Great Development Opportunities
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor to oversee the full survey process, from initial order to final report. This hands-on role combines surveying with coordination, client engagement, and ensuring high-quality outputs.
Key responsibilities:
- Carry out and oversee fire compartmentation, fire door and passive fire protection surveys
- Identify defects against regulations and manufacturer standards
- Coordinate survey schedules, RAMS, equipment and labour
- Produce high-quality survey reports and prepare data for pricing
- Attend site visits and support client relationships
- Promote additional services and support business development
- Maintain compliance with H&S, ISO and industry standards
- Investigate non-conformances and maintain accurate records
- Support colleagues and represent the surveying function professionally
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in passive fire protection surveying
- Hands-on experience installing fire protection systems (essential)
- Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and standards
- Proven experience preparing cost estimates and project pricing
- Business development experience, including advertising and tender submissions
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
- Minimum ASFP / IFE Level 2 qualification, with formal fire door training from BRE, FDIS, FPA, IFI or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence is essential
