Golden Thread Fire Delay is one of the UK’s fastest-growing passive fire protection companies. From our office near Brentwood, we provide fire door, fire barrier and structural steel protection services to a wide range of clients including some of the best-known hospitals, universities and construction firms in the country. We are currently looking for a motivated person with Fire Door Management experience to join our team.
The role is based at our office in Brentwood, you will responsible for managing contracts from receipt of order to client handover, including management of operatives and suppliers, for installation compliance and health and safety on site. Our Fire Door Contracts Manager will also be responsible for pricing and quoting enquiries.
The hours will be full-time between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday – Friday.
The role requires effective communication with the ability to engage personnel within the organization and clientele; strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively and within in a team.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Contract Pre-Start process, confirming scope of work, order documentation and health and safety requirements including producing RAMS/CH&SPP’s in line with site and task requirements
- Ensure materials and plant/equipment requirements are specified
Identify labour needs (numbers, roles, qualifications) and ensure labour is allocated. Manage site labour, subcontractors - Oversee site briefings
- Liaise with clients and client representatives from pre-start to handover
- Undertake site visits, collating information for pricing purposes
- Liaise with manufacturers / suppliers on equipment, pricing, and availability
- Conduct quality and health and safety site audits
Experience in Fire Doors/Passive Fire Protection is desirable. Contract Management within Construction is essential.

Quantity Surveyor Construction – Commercial Manager

Commercial Manager – 12 Month fixed Term Contract
Based at our office, this role reports to the Commercial Director, working full-time (between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday – Friday).
This role is responsible for the commercial management and performance of allocated projects on a day-to-day basis by managing and processing valuations and applications, delivering accurate CVR’s, reviewing and monitoring project performance, ensuring project margins are protected and supporting the Commercial Director and the Operations teams with commercial support and accurate reporting.
1. Enquiry Management
- Liaise with operations management on work requirements and costings
- Liaise with the Commercial Director in the development of future business and ongoing customer satisfaction
- Liaise with clients
2. Financial Management
- Create and maintain monthly valuations/applications in line with client submittal dates
- Oversee process for valuations/applications/invoices for each specific project
- Liaise with credit control and operations management to resolve issues with outstanding and disputed accounts
3. Commercial Reporting
- Support operations management in maximising value of works and maintain awareness of financial performance of projects by reconciling labour/material costs against value
- Maintain monthly cost value reconciliation reports (CVR’s)
- Oversee Maintenance of Payment Tracker
Experience:
Previous experience as Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager the Fire Industry and/or within the wider construction industry is required. Experience using cloud-based software and recording devices would be advantageous.
Training and support will be provided consisting of external training and qualifications and internal on-the-job training.
The role requires effective communication, both verbal and written; strong organizational and time-management skills, flexibility in approach to tasks; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

OPERATIONS CO-ORDINATOR
We at GTFD are currently seeking Operations Co-Ordinator for on a three-month fixed term contract
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Administration
- Run Weekly Billing Reports for Subcontractors from electronic software and processing invoices
- Modifying / updating installation schedules and drawings on OneTrace, Bolster and/or Excel
- Logging and progressing enquiries for quotation purposes on Construct and Sharepoint
- Input information to PQQ’s / SQ’s for internal review prior to submission
- Record and process utility and fuel bills
Operations Co-ordination
- Obtain documentation from site-based operatives in line with compliance requirements
- Set up new projects on Sharepoint, Construct, and OneTrace or Bolster
- Create and upload documentation to new projects on Bolster/OneTrace
- Complete permit applications on client portals
- Export, record and file site documentation from projects
- Support Operations and Warehouse colleagues with ordering of materials/equipment
General
- Answering and progressing telephone and general email enquiries, and opening and distributing post
- Type up the minutes for the Monday meeting and distribute to attendees
- Identify and meet personal job-related training and development
- Participate in relevant internal / external meetings as requested
- Any other ad-hoc duties, as required
What We Offer:
- £12.60 per hour – Full time position, 40 Hours per week.
You will need experience in MS Office – Word & Excel and other Database. Accuracy and attention to detail are essential, alongside a polite confident telephone manner.
Candidates with experience of using Sharepoint, Construct, OneTrace or Bloster are highly desirable, but these are not essential skills.

Estimator
We at GTFD are currently seeking a Full-Time Estimator
Key Responsibilities:
- Pricing tenders and direct enquiries for fire door and PFP services (JCT and NEC) including intumescent, spray and board installations and firestopping, in line with client submittal dates. Project elements range up to £1,000,000 in value.
- Assessing and costing materials and labour requirements to ensure competitive pricing and preparing programmes.
- Site visits and meetings with clients will be required, at times, to finalise details and requirements.
- Running survey reports (from software such as Bolster, OneTrace), preparing defect schedules, Bills of Quantities, doing take-offs and marking up drawings, and pricing all formats and elements.
- Compilation of pricing clarifications and tender breakdowns for discussion and agreement with clients.
Experience:
- Previous estimating (ideally 3+ years) or commercial surveying experience, preferably within fire protection, within the construction sector is essential. The preferred candidate will have or be able to attain quickly knowledge on the structural components and characteristics of a building including floor slabs, walls, doors, ceilings, voids and M&E services.
- Experience using cloud-based software (such as CostX, Bolster etc) is desirable. Experience in passive fire protection would be advantageous, but training and support will be provided.
- The role requires effective communication, both verbal and written; strong numerical, organizational and time-management skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in producing complex reports to a high standard.
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in passive fire protection is desirable, but the Company will provide relevant training and support.

Job Overview
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Operations Director will lead the strategic and operational delivery of the Doors and Passive Fire Protection divisions. This role is pivotal in ensuring exceptional client experiences from initial onboarding through to project completion, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing service delivery, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and industry standards. They will also foster strong client relationships and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver outstanding results.
Duties
Client Delivery & Relationship Management
- Oversee end-to-end client service delivery across both divisions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and potential clients to drive revenue growth and market expansion
Project & Resource Management
- Lead multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring optimal delivery by cross-functional teams including internal business divisions, subcontractors, and partners.

Operational Excellence

- Act as direct line manager for PFP Managers and FD Managers, Health & Safety Manager and Logistics Manager

- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and promote a safety-first culture.

Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior management roles within the Construction industry, ideally with previous Director-level experience.
- Experience in Contract Management developing, negotiating and reviewing contracts with familiarity of JCT and other building industry contracts
- Demonstrable success in leading teams within fast-paced, service-driven construction environments,
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business Management, or a related field (ILM qualifications desirable Level 7).
- Expected to study for ASFP Level 3.
