EXPERIENCED FIRESTOPPING OPERATIVES
We at GTFD are currently seeking experienced firestopping operatives for long-term projects across London and the Home Counties.
We are looking for individuals with proven experience in:
- Installing firestopping to floors and walls
- Installing cavity barriers
- Boarding to structural steel
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Proficiency in using Bolster and One Trace systems to record works
- Basic spoken English
- NVQ Level 2 in Passive Fire Protection
- Working at Height certification
- Asbestos Awareness

MANAGING SUPERVISOR

The Managing Supervisor role is a key part of our team. As we expand to serve new clients, we are seeking high-calibre supervisors who want to join our journey and help build strong, long-lasting client relationships.
You will lead a small team of skilled operatives on site, delivering work and acting as our on-site representative that clients can rely on.
The role reports to one of our Contract Leaders. As well as supervising installation phase of passive fire protection contracts including management of operatives, you will be responsible for arranging materials and equipment, ensuring installation compliance, and maintaining health and safety standards on site.
Competencies:
Essential
o Passive Fire Protection Installation Experience;
o Hold a CSCS Gold Card or CSCS Gold Skilled Workers Card;
o Hold SSSTS, SMSTS (or equivalent recognised by Build UK, such as S2SST);
o Proficient in English (word, spoken, and reading) for effective communication and documentation;
o IT skills: Email; and
o Previous knowledge of Onetrace system for recording and tracking installs.
Desired
o First Aid at Work Training (ideally 3 days but 1-day course may be acceptable);
o IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel or other IT literacy tools;
o One of the following: Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS); Site Management Environmental Training Scheme (SMETS); or CIRIA Environmental Good Practice on Site.
o Previous knowledge of Bolster system for recording and tracking installs.

From our office near Brentwood, we provide fire door, fire barrier and structural steel protection services to a wide range of clients including some of the best-known hospitals, universities and construction firms in the country.

Estimator – Permanent Role
Based at our office, this role reports to the Sales Manager, working full-time (between the hours of 8.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday – Friday).
Job Summary:
Responsible for pricing tenders/enquiries, maintaining client and supplier relations, and assisting the Sales Manager with other business development tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enquiry Processing
- Run survey reports, do take-offs, and mark up drawings for pricing
- Price fire door and passive fire (firestopping, structural steel spray and board protection) enquiries using software, and controlled documents and processes
- Carry out site visits for pricing purposes when necessary
- Prepare defects schedules
2. Client Relations
- Completion of client tenders for passive fire protection (including fire doors) works
- Proactively communicate our quality standards to clients
- Attend supply chain meetings and events
3. Project Budgeting and Planning
- Assess and cost labour requirements
- Obtain and analyse supply chain (materials) quotations
- Prepare Programmes
4. General
- Keep up to date with new product systems, installation techniques and best practices, maintaining a working knowledge of all legislative requirements and any developments that affect the passive fire protection industry
- Attend and participate internal / external meetings as requested
- Identify and meet personal job-related training and development
- Support the company through adhering to best working practices in respect of ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 standards and accreditations
Experience:
Previous experience as an Estimator within the Fire Industry and/or within the wider construction industry is required. Experience using cloud-based software and recording devices would be advantageous.
Training and support will be provided consisting of external training and qualifications and internal on-the-job training.
The role requires effective communication, both verbal and written; strong organizational and time-management skills, flexibility in approach to tasks; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsible for contributing to maintaining and evolving health, safety & environmental policies, procedures, and processes; focussing primarily on managing health and safety in the business (both internally and on sites), supporting our business and our clients’ needs. Maintain compliance in respect of operatives, facilities, materials, equipment, and projects.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership

Drive implementation of GTFD’s Health, Safety & Environmental Sustainability strategies across the business.

Work with the Operations Director to create and evolve policies, procedures, standards, guidance and systems for company operations.

Provide expert advice to project teams and business on health, safety & environmental matters.
Compliance and Standards

Ensure the business operates in compliance with UK legislation, regulations, and company standards.

Support preparation and maintenance of ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001).

Monitor contractor and project compliance with company systems.
Health and Safety Management

Maintain all H&S accreditations and compliance.

Undertake periodic risk assessments of facilities and ensure inspections/testing are completed.

Establish and review Safe Systems of Work, CoSHH procedures, and Construction Phase Plans where relevant.

Prepare, review, and monitor RAMS compliance across projects.

Lead Passive Fire Protection Surveyor
Reports to: Survey Manager
Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00 (40 hours)
Effective from: March 2026
Job Summary
Responsible for co-ordinating surveys from receipt of Order to report handover, issuing survey quotations, carrying out surveys, and writing and presenting reports.
Key Responsibilities

Survey fire compartmentation and already-installed product systems / doors inside commercial and domestic buildings, identifying defects in accordance with regulations and manufacturers’ product data sheets and installation requirements.

Record and review surveys on designated recording software and produce survey reports including remedial actions required by reference to relevant standards.

Schedule surveys, produce RAMS, book or order equipment required, allocate labour, workflow data and reports, liaising with colleagues in Surveying and Estimating.

Process fire door and passive fire protection survey data for pricing by the Estimating department.

Undertake site visits identifying requirements, scope and extent for pricing survey quotations and liaise with client representatives while onsite.

Communicate our quality standards to clients through reporting and meetings and focus on developing business through promotion of complementary and repeating services.

Maintain a clean, safe working environment and ensure the site is clean and secure at the end of each working shift.

Maintain a working knowledge of legislative requirements and developments that affect the passive fire protection industry.

Help ensure working environments are safe and secure and that the company remains compliant with health & safety, COSHH and quality rules and regulations, including ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 standards and accreditations.

About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Assistant to support our Technical Consultant in delivering passive fire protection programmes from design stage through to project completion.
This role involves assisting with technical design support, product specification, quality assurance inspections, and providing guidance to internal teams and external clients. You will also help ensure technical information is effectively communicated across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support

Assist with the design and specification of passive fire protection solutions to meet project performance requirements.

Support Tier 1 contractor design teams with passive fire protection requirements at various RIBA stages.

Provide technical information and installation guidance to internal operations teams.

Assist with selecting appropriate fire protection products for project specifications.
Quality Assurance

Carry out quality assurance (QA) checks on fire compartmentation installations to ensure compliance with project specifications.

Ensure installations follow manufacturer instructions, certification requirements, and industry best practice.

Provide guidance and support to internal installation teams regarding specifications and installation details.

Report and assist in resolving any deviations from standard installation details.
