fire door training module launch lewisham

The first Golden Thread Fire Delay 1 day awareness training module for inspecting and managing fire doors in Healthcare Buildings took place at Lewisham Hospital on Friday 16th April 21. Hosted and organised in conjunction with resident fire safety manager Paul Greenwood, the event brought together personnel from Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust’s, Fire, Estates and Projects teams.

Attendees provided positive feedback on the day, for example project manager Precious Ogbuchi said; “This is very valuable and important – vital information for project managers; it’s given me and directed me to what I need to know. Previously I didn’t know what I needed to know!”

The training is being delivered by GTFD free of charge to Hospital Trust personnel in order to promote and raise awareness of the recently published Reference Document ‘Fire Door Inspections in Healthcare Buildings’ based on a paper of the same name that was written by a NAHFO London Branch working group to introduce industry approved fire inspection standards to Trusts. It was robustly peer reviewed by 44 individuals and organisations including London Fire Brigade, NFCC, BRE LPCB, NHS Improvement and Aviva Insurance.
